What do I need for classes?

We have a lot of flexibility here.Read on for my suggestions on the best props and suggestions for optional items to use for your first few classes.

Bolster  - In lieu of a bolster, I recommend a rolled-up blanket or a cushion from your sofa. If you’re interested in purchasing a bolster, I like this one.

Strap - You will need a yoga strap. You can use a belt or a dog leash works well too. These 8 foot straps are well priced and are very useful in our practice.

Mat - A yoga mat can be handy if you’re on hardwood floors, but a rug or carpet is just fine too.  Here’s one I like.

An empty area on the wall – We often use the wall for standing poses or to place our legs up the wall. The back of a door can work well too if needed.

Block - Occasionally we use a block, but we can use books as well.

Chair- Occasionally we use a sturdy chair for balance or for seated poses. A dining chair works well.

How Online Classes Work

All classes take place using Zoom as the platform. You can access the classes from your phone or a laptop that has a camera and a microphone.

Please sign up for classes at least 30 minutes before class starts. After signing up for a class, you will receive an email from me with the link to log into the meeting. Please sign in 5-10 minutes prior to class so we can prepare for class. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to get the camera angle correct.

If you are a new student, please take 5-10 minutes to fill out the new student intake form and waiver. This helps me tailor the class to your needs. Also feel free to contact me via text, email or phone to discuss any specific needs you would like to share.

Find a place in your home to practice that is welcoming for YOU. This might be a room that is closed off and away from pets and children or it may be in the living room with everyone around you. The reality of life right now is that we are all learning to interact in new ways, and that might mean that the dog comes by for a kiss or some love in middle of class, welcome them.
